A full circle = 360° = 2π radians = 400 gon.
How to use
- Type the value in the From unit.
- Pick the unit to convert to (it starts on radians). Search by name or symbol.
- Read the result, or tap any row in the full table to switch the target unit.
Good to know
A full turn = 360° = 2π radians = 400 gradians. So radians = degrees × π/180; 90° = π/2 ≈ 1.5708 rad and 1 rad ≈ 57.2958°.
Map coordinates often use degrees, minutes and seconds: 1° = 60′ (arcminutes) and 1′ = 60″ (arcseconds). 28.6139° = 28° 36′ 50″.
Calculators and spreadsheets usually expect radians in sin, cos and tan; mixing them up with degrees is a common exam mistake.
Questions
How many radians is 180°?
π radians (3.14159).
How many degrees is 1 radian?
57.2958°.
What is a gradian?
1/400 of a turn, so a right angle is 100 gon. Used in some surveying.
How do I convert decimal degrees to minutes?
Multiply the decimal part by 60 for minutes, and the leftover decimal by 60 again for seconds.
Is anything I type sent to a server?
No. The conversion runs on your device and nothing is stored.
