Good to know
Price per kg = price ÷ size in kg. A 1 kg pack at ₹245 costs ₹245/kg, a 5 kg pack at ₹1,120 costs ₹224/kg and a 500 g pack at ₹130 costs ₹260/kg. The 5 kg pack is about 13.8% cheaper per kg than the 500 g one.
You can mix g and kg (or ml and litres) — sizes are converted for you. You cannot compare weight with volume, because 1 litre of oil does not weigh 1 kg.
Most packs sold in India also print a unit sale price (for example per kg or per litre) next to the MRP. Use this tool for offers, combo packs and loose items where that is missing. A bigger pack is only a saving if you will use it before it expires.
Questions
How do I calculate price per kg?
Divide the price by the weight in kg. For 500 g at ₹130: ₹130 ÷ 0.5 = ₹260 per kg.
Is a bigger pack always cheaper?
Often, but not always. Offers on smaller packs can beat the big pack, so it is worth checking.
Can I compare ml and litres?
Yes. Pick the right unit for each pack and the tool converts them.
Can I compare oil sold in litres with oil sold in kg?
Not directly. Oil weighs about 0.91 kg per litre, so the packs are not the same amount. Compare packs sold in the same kind of unit.
