How to use

  1. Enter the monthly in-hand salary you want.
  2. Set the basic percentage, tax regime and PF rule the company is likely to use.
  3. Read the CTC to ask for. The check figure shows the in-hand that CTC really gives.

Good to know

There is no simple formula for CTC from in-hand because tax slabs, the rebate and PF caps change the slope. So the calculator tries CTC values (bisection) until the in-hand from the salary model matches your target to within a rupee.

The model: gross = CTC − employer PF − gratuity (if included); in-hand = gross − your PF − professional tax − income tax (FY 2026-27, Income-tax Act, 2025, 4% cess included). PF is 12% of basic, capped at the ₹25,000 monthly wage ceiling in effect from 17 September 2026 unless you choose otherwise.

Use it when comparing job offers or negotiating: a higher basic or PF on full basic raises CTC for the same take-home. Variable pay is kept outside the monthly in-hand. Every company structures pay differently, so treat the number as an estimate; this page is waiting for a CA review.

Questions

What CTC do I need for ₹1 lakh a month in hand?

With 50% basic, PF on the ₹25,000 ceiling, ₹200 professional tax and the new regime, about ₹12.74 lakh a year: taxable income stays under ₹12 lakh, so the rebate leaves no tax. Enter your own settings for a closer figure.

Why does the CTC jump more than the in-hand?

Above ₹12 lakh of taxable income, tax starts in the new regime, so each extra rupee of CTC gives less in hand.

Does it include gratuity and bonus?

Turn on the gratuity option if the offer includes it in CTC. Add variable pay separately; it is not counted in monthly in-hand.

Is CTC the same as gross salary?

No. CTC also includes employer PF, gratuity and sometimes insurance. Gross salary is what appears on your payslip before deductions.

Can I quote this in my offer negotiation?

You can use it as a starting point. It is an estimate, not financial or tax advice.
