How to use
- Choose SGPA (one semester) or CGPA (all semesters).
- For SGPA: one subject per line with credits and grade point (e.g. DBMS 4 9).
- For CGPA: one semester per line with its SGPA and total credits (e.g. 8.2 22).
Good to know
SGPA = Σ(Ci × Gi) ÷ Σ Ci, where Ci is a course's credits and Gi its grade point. 4 × 9 + 4 × 8 + 3 × 7 + 2 × 10 + 2 × 9 = 127 over 15 credits gives an SGPA of 8.47.
CGPA = Σ(Ci × Si) ÷ Σ Ci, where Si is a semester's SGPA and Ci its total credits. This is the UGC CBCS method; a plain average of SGPAs is shown too, because a few universities use it.
Failed or absent courses usually count with 0 grade points until cleared, and some universities leave out audit or non-credit courses. Follow your university's ordinance, then convert CGPA to percentage with its own formula.
Questions
How is SGPA calculated?
Multiply each course's credits by its grade point, add them, and divide by the semester's total credits.
How do I calculate CGPA from SGPA?
Multiply each semester's SGPA by its credits, add them, and divide by the total credits of all semesters.
Why is CGPA not the average of my SGPAs?
Semesters with more credits weigh more. If all semesters have equal credits, the two are the same.
How do I convert SGPA to percentage?
It depends on your university. Many use (CGPA − 0.75) × 10 or CGPA × 9.5; use the CGPA to percentage converter with your university's formula.
