Tyre gauges show pressure above the surrounding air (gauge pressure). 1 atm = 1.01325 bar = 14.7 psi.
How to use
- Type the value in the From unit.
- Pick the unit to convert to (it starts on bar). Search by name or symbol.
- Read the result, or tap any row in the full table to switch the target unit.
Good to know
1 bar = 100,000 Pa = 100 kPa. 1 psi = 6,894.76 Pa, so 1 bar = 14.504 psi. 1 kgf/cm² = 98.0665 kPa (close to, but not the same as, 1 bar). 1 standard atmosphere = 101,325 Pa = 760 mmHg.
Car tyre pressure in India is usually given in psi (30 to 35 psi for most cars); petrol-pump gauges may show bar too. Weather maps use hectopascals (hPa), which equal millibars.
Tyre gauges show gauge pressure (above the surrounding air); scientific tables often use absolute pressure. Blood pressure is in mmHg; this tool only converts units, it does not interpret readings.
Questions
What is 32 psi in bar?
32 × 0.0689476 = 2.206 bar.
Is kg/cm² the same as bar?
Nearly: 1 kg/cm² = 0.980665 bar, a 2% difference.
How many psi is 1 atm?
14.696 psi.
What is a hectopascal?
100 Pa, the same as 1 millibar. Normal sea-level air pressure is about 1013 hPa.
