Good to know
An EAN-13 has 13 digits: the GS1 prefix (890 for India), your company number, the item number and one check digit. The check digit uses the GS1 mod-10 rule: weights 1 and 3 from the left, then round up to the next 10.
Standard size is about 37.3 × 25.9 mm at 0.33 mm module (100%); you can go from 80% to 200%. Do not trim the height too much or remove the white margins, or tills may not scan it.
Real EAN/UPC/GTIN numbers must be licensed from GS1 India (or your country's GS1 office). This tool only draws the barcode for a number you already own; it does not issue numbers.
Questions
How do I get an EAN-13 number for my product?
Apply to GS1 India for a company prefix; they give you a block of numbers. Numbers bought from resellers or made up may be rejected by retailers and marketplaces.
What does 890 mean?
890 is the GS1 prefix for numbers issued by GS1 India. It shows where the number was issued, not where the product was made.
I typed 13 digits and see an error. Why?
The last digit does not match the check digit of the first 12. The message shows the correct digit; you can also just type 12 digits.
What is the EAN-5 add-on?
A small extra barcode used on books and magazines for price or issue number. Add it after a space.
Is the PNG good for printing?
Choose 300 or 600 DPI, or use SVG/PDF which stay sharp at any size.
