Good to know
"Part of a URL" (encodeURIComponent) encodes everything that has a special meaning in links, including / ? & = and #, so it is right for one query value like a search term. "Whole URL" (encodeURI) keeps those characters so the address still works, and only encodes spaces and non-English letters.
Hindi and other non-English text is written as UTF-8 bytes in %XX form, for example "न" becomes %E0%A4%A8. Decoding reverses this. If a link contains a broken code such as a lone % sign, the tool tells you where instead of guessing.
HTML forms send spaces as + rather than %20. Turn on "Spaces as +" when you build or read form-style query strings (application/x-www-form-urlencoded).
Questions
What is URL encoding?
Replacing characters that are not allowed in a web address with % and their byte code, like space → %20.
Which mode should I use?
Use "Part of a URL" for values you put after ?q=, and "Whole URL" to clean a full link.
Why does my link show %E0%A4…?
That is Hindi text in encoded form. Decode it here to read it.
Is + the same as a space?
Only in form data and query strings. Turn on "Spaces as +" for those.
Is my text uploaded?
No. It runs in your browser.
