Good to know
The calculator assumes you invest at the start of every month and returns compound monthly. Most Indian fund houses show SIP returns this way.
Mutual fund returns are not fixed. Use a lower rate for a cautious estimate and a higher one for an optimistic one.
Step-up raises your SIP once a year by the percentage you choose, for example when your salary goes up.
Questions
What is the SIP formula?
Maturity = P × [((1 + i)^n − 1) ÷ i] × (1 + i), where P is the monthly amount, i the monthly rate (yearly rate ÷ 12) and n the number of months.
Is the return guaranteed?
No. Equity and debt fund returns change with the market. This is an estimate for planning.
Does it include tax?
No. Capital gains tax and exit loads are not included.
What return should I use?
Many people plan with 10–12% for equity funds over long periods and 6–7% for debt funds. Past returns do not promise future returns.
