US and UK gallons differ: 1 US gallon = 3.785 L, 1 UK gallon = 4.546 L. Cup and spoons are metric (250, 15 and 5 ml) unless marked US.

How to use

  1. Type the value in the From unit.
  2. Pick the unit to convert to (it starts on US gallons). Search by name or symbol.
  3. Read the result, or tap any row in the full table to switch the target unit.

Good to know

1 litre = 1,000 ml = 1 dm³; 1 m³ = 1,000 L (one kilolitre, the unit on many water bills). 1 cubic foot = 28.3168 L.

US and UK units differ: a US gallon is 231 cubic inches = 3.785 L, a UK (imperial) gallon is 4.546 L. A US cup is 236.6 ml; the metric cup used in most Indian recipes is 250 ml (some use 240 ml).

Spoons here are metric: 1 tablespoon = 15 ml and 1 teaspoon = 5 ml. Converting volume to weight needs the density (1 cup of flour weighs much less than 1 cup of water).
