Code 39 is the classic barcode used on ID cards, library books and many government and factory systems. Type your value and get a clean Code 39 in seconds.

How to use

  1. Type capital letters, digits and the symbols - . $ / + % or space (small letters are changed to capitals).
  2. Need small letters or other symbols? Pick Code 39 Extended in the list.
  3. Set the size and download PNG, SVG or a PDF label.

Good to know

Each Code 39 character has 9 elements, 3 of them wide; the code starts and ends with an asterisk (*), which is added for you and is not part of your data.

Code 39 needs no check digit, but some systems ask for the optional mod-43 check. It is wider than Code 128 for the same data, so keep values short.

Code 39 Extended uses pairs of characters to show lower-case letters and more symbols; your scanner must have 'Full ASCII' turned on to read them correctly.
