How to use

  1. Enter your age, the age you want to retire and the age to plan until.
  2. Enter your monthly expenses today and any retirement savings you already have.
  3. Check the inflation and return assumptions under Assumptions and adjust them.

Good to know

First your monthly expenses are grown with inflation to the year you retire. The corpus is then the amount that, earning the post-retirement return, can pay those expenses every month and raise them with inflation every year until the last age, ending at zero. The drawdown table shows this year by year.

Your existing savings are grown at the pre-retirement return and subtracted. The rest is the gap, and the monthly saving is the SIP that fills it by your retirement date. EPF, PPF and NPS balances count as existing savings.

Small changes in assumptions move the answer a lot: planning till 90 instead of 85, or 7% inflation instead of 6%, can raise the corpus by 20% or more. Keep a margin, and review the plan every year. This is an estimate, not financial advice.

Questions

How much money do I need to retire in India?

It depends on your expenses, inflation and how long you plan for. Many people need 25–35 times their yearly expenses at retirement; the calculator works out your own number.

What return should I assume after retirement?

A cautious 6%–8% suits a mix of debt and some equity. Lower returns need a bigger corpus.

Should I include EPF and PPF?

Yes. Enter their current balances as retirement savings; keep contributing as part of the monthly saving.

Does it include pension or rent income?

No. Reduce your monthly expenses by any pension or rent you expect to get.

Is my data stored?

No. Everything is calculated on your device.
