°F = °C × 9/5 + 32 and K = °C + 273.15. Temperature scales have different zero points, so they are not simple multiples.
How to use
- Type the temperature (minus signs are fine).
- Pick the scale to convert to.
- See all four scales in the table.
Good to know
°F = °C × 9/5 + 32 and °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9. Kelvin starts at absolute zero: K = °C + 273.15. The scales have different zero points, so you cannot just multiply.
Body temperature: about 37 °C = 98.6 °F is the traditional average; a fever is usually taken as 38 °C (100.4 °F) or higher. Thermometers in India show either scale, so this helps compare readings.
Oven settings: 180 °C = 356 °F (often written as 350 °F) and 200 °C = 392 °F. −40 is the one temperature that is the same in °C and °F.
