Good to know
Duration = end time − start time. When the end is earlier than the start, such as 21:30 to 06:15, we add 24 hours because the period crosses midnight: that night shift is 8 hours 45 minutes.
Decimal hours are useful for timesheets and pay: 8 hours 45 minutes = 8.75 hours, because 45 ÷ 60 = 0.75. Do not write it as 8.45.

How do I calculate hours between two times?
Subtract the start time from the end time. If the end is earlier, add 24 hours. This tool does both automatically.
How do I convert minutes to decimal hours?
Divide the minutes by 60. 30 minutes = 0.5 hours, 15 minutes = 0.25 hours, 45 minutes = 0.75 hours.
How long is a shift from 10 pm to 6 am?
8 hours. The end time is earlier on the clock, so it is counted on the next day.
Can I subtract lunch or tea breaks?
