How to use

  2. Enter the amount and the inflation rate.
  3. Enter the number of years and read the result.

Good to know

Future cost = today's cost × (1 + inflation)^years. Value in today's money = future amount ÷ (1 + inflation)^years. At 6%, prices roughly double in 12 years, so ₹1 lakh of expenses today becomes about ₹1.79 lakh in 10 years.

RBI targets 4% CPI inflation with a band of 2% to 6%. Retail inflation has been within that band in most recent years, but costs that matter for planning, such as school fees, medical care and housing, often rise faster than the headline number.

Use this to set realistic goals: a child's education, a wedding or retirement expenses. Then use the goal SIP or retirement calculator to plan the saving.
