How to use
- Choose the barcode type from the list, or search for it (EAN-13, Code 128, Data Matrix…).
- Type or paste your value. Fix anything the red message points out; the check digit is added for you.
- Set size, colours, text and margin, then download a PNG (150/300/600 DPI), an SVG or a PDF label.
Good to know
Over 100 symbologies are supported: retail (EAN, UPC, ISBN, ISSN), industrial (Code 128, Code 39, ITF-14, Codabar, MSI), postal (USPS IMb, Royal Mail, Australia Post, Japan Post), 2D (Data Matrix, PDF417, Aztec, MaxiCode, Han Xin, DotCode) and the GS1 DataBar family.
Sizes are real: set the bar width in millimetres (0.33 mm is the standard EAN size) and the height, and the PNG carries its DPI so it prints at the right size. Keep the quiet zone (margin) for reliable scanning.
Everything is drawn in your browser and the scan check also runs on your device. Real EAN/UPC/GTIN numbers must be licensed from GS1 India (or your country's GS1 office). This tool only draws the barcode for a number you already own; it does not issue numbers.
Questions
Which barcode type should I use?
For products in shops use EAN-13 (or UPC-A in the USA). For your own stock, shelf and asset labels use Code 128. For small items or lots of data use Data Matrix or a QR code.
What is a check digit?
It is the last digit of EAN, UPC, ITF-14 and similar codes, calculated from the other digits so scanners can catch mistakes. Type the number without it and we add it; if you type a wrong one we tell you the correct digit.
Can I get a barcode number for my product here?
No. Retail numbers (EAN/GTIN) must be licensed from GS1 India. Once you have your numbers, you can draw their barcodes here for free.
Which file should I give my printer?
SVG or PDF is best for printing because it is vector and stays sharp at any size. Use PNG at 300 or 600 DPI for labels made in Word, Canva or label software.
Is my data uploaded?
No. The barcode is drawn and checked on your device; nothing you type leaves it.
