How to use

  1. Under What you own, enter today's values: bank, investments, PF/PPF/NPS, property, gold and others.
  2. Under What you owe, enter outstanding loans and card dues.
  3. Read your net worth and the share of your assets funded by debt.

Good to know

Net worth = total assets − total liabilities. Use current market values: today's fund value, the price your flat would fetch, gold at today's rate. For loans use the amount still outstanding, from your latest statement.

The debt-to-assets ratio shows how much of what you own is funded by borrowing. Under 30%–40% is generally comfortable; a rising ratio is a signal to slow new borrowing.

Track your net worth once or twice a year. Your own home counts as an asset, but it does not pay your bills, so "cash + investments" is the part you can actually use for goals and emergencies.

Questions

What is net worth?

The value of everything you own minus everything you owe.

Should I include my house?

Yes, at a realistic market value. Look at cash + investments too, since you live in the house.

Should I include my car?

You can include its resale value under other assets. Cars lose value fast.

Is a negative net worth bad?

It is common early in a career or just after a home loan. Focus on paying down costly debt and building savings.

Is my data stored?

No. Your figures never leave your device.
