Good to know
Weeks of pregnancy (gestational age) are counted from the first day of your last period. If you know the due date from a scan, the start is taken as 280 days before it, which is usually more accurate.
Doctors write pregnancy age as weeks + days, for example 10+3 means 10 weeks and 3 days. The month shown is a rough guide (about 4.3 weeks per month), since 40 weeks is a little over 9 calendar months.
Trimesters: 1st up to 13 weeks 6 days, 2nd from 14 to 27 weeks 6 days, 3rd from 28 weeks. Use More options to check the week for any other date, such as an appointment.
Questions
How do I calculate how many weeks pregnant I am?
Count the days from the first day of your last period to today and divide by 7. The remainder is the extra days.
Why am I "2 weeks pregnant" at conception?
Because weeks are counted from the last period, about 2 weeks before ovulation and conception.
Which month of pregnancy am I in?
Roughly weeks 1–4 are month 1, 5–8 month 2, and so on. 9 months ends at about 39–40 weeks.
My scan says a different week. Which is right?
