Good to know
Walking stride is roughly 41–42% of height (a common pedometer estimate: 0.415 × height for men, 0.413 for women). At 170 cm that is about 70 cm, so 10,000 steps ≈ 7 km.
For a better number, measure your stride: walk 10 normal steps on a flat path, measure the distance and divide by 10. Running strides are much longer, so use this for walking only.
Research (Paluch et al., Lancet Public Health 2022) links about 6,000–8,000 steps a day in people over 60, and 8,000–10,000 in younger adults, with lower risk of early death. Any increase from your current level helps. The minutes column assumes a moderate 100 steps a minute.
