- Read your pace, speed and the split table.
Good to know
Pace = time ÷ distance, usually shown as minutes per km. Speed = distance ÷ time. 5 km in 25:00 is a pace of 5:00 per km, or 12 km/h.
Common race distances: 5K = 5 km, 10K = 10 km, half marathon = 21.0975 km, marathon = 42.195 km. One mile = 1.609 km, so a 5:00/km pace is about 8:03 per mile.
The split table assumes an even pace from start to finish. Hills, heat and humidity (common in Indian summers) slow most runners, so plan a slower pace on hot days.
Questions
How do I calculate my running pace?
Divide your time by the distance. For 10 km in 55 minutes: 55 ÷ 10 = 5.5 minutes, or 5:30 per km.
What is a good 5K pace for beginners?
Many beginners run 5K at 6:30–8:00 per km. Run-walk is fine; consistency matters more than speed.
How do I convert pace per km to pace per mile?
Multiply by 1.609. 6:00 per km is about 9:39 per mile.
How should I enter time?
As hours:minutes:seconds, for example 1:05:30, or minutes:seconds such as 25:00.
Can I use this for walking?
Yes. A brisk walk is usually 9–12 minutes per km.
