Edit or Remove PDF Metadata

Fix the title that shows in browser tabs and search results, or clean out personal details before you send a file.

How to use

  1. Choose a PDF to see the details stored in it.
  2. Change the title, author, subject or keywords, or tick Remove all details.
  3. Tap Save details (or Remove details) and download the updated PDF.

Good to know

PDF files carry document information that you don't see on the page: a title, the author's name (often your computer's user name), the software that made it and the dates it was created and changed. Browsers show the title in the tab, and search engines may show it in results.

Remove all details clears every one of these fields, including the hidden XMP copy that some programs add. Many PDFs keep the same details twice; when you save changes, the old XMP copy is removed so the new values show everywhere. The pages themselves are not changed.

This tool does not remove information inside the pages, such as names in the text, comments or form fields. Use it to tidy document details, not as a full privacy clean-up or redaction.

Questions

What is PDF metadata?

Details stored inside the file: title, author, subject, keywords, the software used and creation and modification dates.

Why remove metadata?

The author field often holds your name or computer user name, and dates can reveal when you worked on a file. Removing them is a good habit before sharing publicly.

Can I write the title in Hindi?

Yes. Titles and other details can be in Hindi or English.

Will it change how my PDF looks?

No. Only the hidden details change; the pages stay exactly the same.

Is my file uploaded?

No. The details are read and changed in your browser.
