How to use

  1. Choose feet or metres.
  2. Type one room per line, like “Hall 16 x 12” (add a third number for identical rooms).
  3. See the total and the room-by-room table.

Good to know

Area of a rectangular room = length × width. Each line’s first two numbers are taken as length and width; a third number multiplies (for example “Bedroom 12 x 10 x 2” for two equal bedrooms).

For L-shaped rooms, split them into rectangles on separate lines. Use decimals for inches: 12 ft 6 in is 12.5 ft. Totals are shown in sq ft, m² and square yards (1 sq yd = 9 sq ft), often called gaj in north India.

This is the inside floor area you measured, close to carpet area for those rooms. It does not include wall thickness, balconies you did not list, or common areas. See the Carpet area calculator for built-up and super built-up.

Questions

How do I write each room?

One per line: a name, then length and width, e.g. “Kitchen 10 x 8”. The x is optional; “Kitchen 10 8” works too.

How do I enter feet and inches?

As a decimal: 6 inches = 0.5 ft, 3 inches = 0.25 ft. So 12 ft 6 in = 12.5.

How do I handle an L-shaped room?

Split it into two rectangles and put each on its own line.

What is a gaj?

A square yard: 9 square feet or 0.836 m². Plot sizes in north India are often quoted in gaj.

Is this the carpet area?

It is the measured floor area of the rooms you list, which is close to carpet area but excludes walls and anything not listed.
