Good to know
Words are runs of letters or numbers, so "don't" and "e-mail" count as one word each and punctuation is ignored. Hindi words keep their matras and half letters together (नमस्ते is one word), and sentences end at . ! ? or the Hindi purna viram (।).
For Hindi text we also show "Hindi letters (akshar)": letters as you see them, so क्षि counts once even though the computer stores several codes. "Characters" counts Unicode characters, which is what most form limits use.
Reading time assumes about 200 words per minute and speaking time about 130, typical averages for adults; your speed may differ, so treat them as estimates. Exams and portals sometimes count words differently (for example, numbers or hyphenated words), so leave a small margin under any word limit.
Questions
Does it count Hindi words correctly?
Yes. Matras and half letters stay inside the word, so each Hindi word counts once.
Are numbers counted as words?
Yes, 2026 counts as one word.
How is reading time calculated?
Words ÷ 200 per minute; speaking time uses 130 per minute. Both are estimates.
Is there a limit on text length?
No fixed limit; long books work in a modern browser.
Is my text saved or uploaded?
No. Counting happens in your browser and nothing is stored.
