GS1 Barcode Generator: GS1-128, GS1 DataMatrix and GS1 DataBar
Supply-chain partners, pharma buyers and modern retail often ask for GS1 barcodes that carry more than a product number: batch, expiry, weight or serial. Type the data with Application Identifiers and download.

How to use
- Pick GS1-128, GS1 DataMatrix, GS1 QR Code or a GS1 DataBar type from the list.
- Type the data with each AI in brackets, e.g. (01)08901234567890(17)271231(10)AB123.
- Check the message (GTIN check digits are verified), then download PNG, SVG or a PDF label.
Good to know
Common AIs: (01) GTIN, (10) batch/lot, (17) expiry date YYMMDD, (21) serial number, (00) SSCC for pallets and cartons, (310n) net weight in kg. The encoder checks lengths and formats for each AI.
GS1-128 suits carton and pallet labels, GS1 DataMatrix suits small medicine and device labels, and GS1 DataBar suits fresh produce and coupons.
Real EAN/UPC/GTIN numbers must be licensed from GS1 India (or your country's GS1 office). This tool only draws the barcode for a number you already own; it does not issue numbers.
Questions
What is an Application Identifier (AI)?
A number in brackets that says what the next data means, for example (17) for expiry date. Scanners use it to split the data into fields.
Do I need GS1 India membership?
To use GTINs and SSCCs on goods you sell to others, yes. The tool itself does not check membership.
Why is my (01) GTIN rejected?
The 14th digit is the check digit. The message shows the correct one.
GS1-128 or Code 128?
GS1-128 is Code 128 with a special start (FNC1) and AIs. Use plain Code 128 for internal labels.
Can I make SSCC labels for cartons?
Yes. Use GS1-128 with (00) and your 18-digit SSCC, or choose SSCC-18 in the full list.
