L/100 km is the reciprocal of km/L, so lower is better: 100 ÷ 20 km/L = 5 L/100 km.

How to use

  1. Type the fuel economy (for example 15 km/l).
  2. Pick the unit to convert to.
  3. See every unit in the table.

Good to know

L/100 km is the reciprocal of km/l: L/100 km = 100 ÷ km/l. So 20 km/l = 5 L/100 km. With L/100 km, lower is better; with km/l and mpg, higher is better.

mpg differs by country because the gallons differ: US mpg = km/l × 2.352, UK mpg = km/l × 2.825. A car that does 40 UK mpg does only 33.3 US mpg.

Indian brochures quote ARAI-certified km/l from a standard test cycle; real-world mileage is usually lower. Use the trip or fuel cost calculators to plan spending.

Questions

What is 15 km/l in L/100 km?

100 ÷ 15 = 6.67 L/100 km.

How do I convert km/l to mpg?

US mpg = km/l × 2.3521; UK mpg = km/l × 2.8248.

Why is L/100 km "upside down"?

It measures fuel used per distance instead of distance per fuel, so lower numbers mean better economy.

Is ARAI mileage what I will get?

Usually not exactly. ARAI figures come from a fixed lab test; traffic, AC use and driving style change real mileage.

Is anything I type sent to a server?

No. The conversion runs on your device and nothing is stored.
