Good to know
We count completed calendar months first and then the leftover days. From 31 January, one month later is the last day of February, so 31 Jan to 1 Mar is 1 month and 1 day.
Total days is the plain difference between the two dates. Turn on the end-date option when both the first and the last day count, such as a leave period or a notice period.
For your exact age as on an exam cut-off date, use the age calculator, which follows the way exam notices count age.
Questions
How do I find the number of years, months and days between two dates?
Count the full years, then the full months after that, then the days left over. This calculator does it for you and handles different month lengths and leap years.
Does it count the start date and the end date?
By default it gives the difference, which leaves out one of the two days. Tick "Count the end date too" to add one day so both are included.
Why is 31 January to 28 February shown as one month?
Months have different lengths, so when a month has no matching day we use its last day. That is the usual convention in calendars and contracts.
Can I enter the dates in either order?
Yes. If the end date is earlier, the dates are swapped and a note tells you.
Is my data stored?
No. Everything is calculated on your device and nothing is sent anywhere.
